It is very odd how many nursing stories have been passed from generation to generation. Everyone who lives around this planet have all known someone who was part of this great profession that really helps individuals. Americans are always happy to support this particular group of workers who do so much for the community even when they are tired.
One certain woman who lived in New York City worked as a full time attendant at a local hospital and did some extra work in private duty. She would rush through the busy streets of Manhattan everyday in order to be on time for work. Other individuals always saw her with a smile upon her face since this particular woman was quite happy.
She could not wait to get to upstate New York each afternoon when her job at this hospital was completed. She would catch one of the many trains that glided up and down the busy tracks. A nice big automobile was always at the upstate station to meet her.
Once she arrived at her destination there was always a smiling older woman at the door to meet her. This older lady was her patient as well as her dearest friend. They would spend their evening playing checkers and knitting new garments to wear. The senior would always retire after this was over with.
The faithful caretaker would help this lady change clothes and climb into her nice big bed. Sometimes she would read to the older woman if there was enough time. Once this grand dame was asleep the younger lady would take her leave and head back to New York City.
These house calls were something to be truly cherished and this younger woman knew this for a fact. She really enjoyed the time that she was able to share with this kind senior almost everyday of the week. The train was very empty at this time of night but New York still seemed to be filled with exciting patrons upon its busy streets. In a way she wished that she could just give up Manhattan and stay in the country with the older woman. Unfortunately she jumped back into reality when the train reached her stop.
After completing a very grueling shift at this hospital the next day she was even more eager to head back to the country. Her day was very busy since there were so many demanding individuals in the emergency room from morning until late afternoon. The train ride was quick and the ride to the mansion was even faster.
Nursing stories have a way of always ending very different no matter how positive they sound. The older woman had passed away overnight from a very deadly heart attack. It was quite fortunate that the young attendant inherited all of her money but she would not have the senior's company again.
