Award Winning Authors In Today's World

By Kelly Wood

Of the many professional, amateur and budding writers in the world, very few tend to make it to the big leagues. This is true despite the fact that writing is a very old career path. Writing today has taken on a new look with the changing face of society. Award winning authors have been able to keep up with the trends and make a mark for themselves.

Making it big through writing is not a simple feat to achieve. It requires careful planning and hard work along with talent. Variables such as the marketability of the creative work produces as well as the target market must be considered every time an author contemplates creating a new book.

For many of them, the journey has been made less of a hassle by a team comprising experts such as publishers and editors. This is especially true for writers who belong to the 'old school'. The manuscripts or first drafts of the literary product is submitted for review and enhancement and the writer trusts these experts with the task of ensuring that the world is captivated by their work.

Marketing through modern technology is the way to go for authors who are pushing for global recognition. Social media sites can be used to promote new and older works and reach a wider target audience. Additionally, a blog goes a long way in garnering more support for an author's work.

Today, blogs and social media platforms are used to promote different books and literary works. Through a blog, an author can maintain touch with the fan base. They may even be able to garner support for another work or a fellow writer. Sometimes blog subscribers are able to guide writers into honing their craft in such a way that their success becomes even more pronounced over time.

Many writers have also broken into a new field known as e-books. Publishing books in electrical format makes them more easily attainable by the online world. When this is done, the title of a bestseller is never far away as the 'middle man' is removed. E-books are easily downloaded and read from PCs, laptops or any one of many hand held electronic reading devices that exist.

Of course working online does not necessarily mean that the publishers and editors are obsolete. Many writers still rely on these experts to get their work, even in the electronic format, ready for the world. Today's editors and publishers must therefore be aware of the many web-based opportunities that can be used to promote and market a book.

Human beings, by nature, are lovers of change. They have the tendency to always want to change what exists by enhancing it or creating something better. The world's award winning authors throughout history have been those who have been found it possible to remain relevant despite the social, technological and economical changes that abound. These changes may have affected some traditional professions negatively but writing geniuses have been able to avoid that pitfall.
