After years of research, and observation of progressing writers, I have identified the 5 top tips to help you develop your potential, and tap into all that you have to offer. Of course, there are many more skills, habits, and practices we can adopt, but these are a starting point.

Tip Number 1-- Write! Create! You think this is a little too obvious? You 'd be shocked to see the number of people who think that they can simply sit down and compose a best-seller from beginning to finish. In truth, there appears to be a common misconception in society, that writers are born with skills that do not need to be developed, and that they have complete stories inside their head ready to leap onto the page. The belief that if you are a writer, you are born with these skills is just not correct. Like all vocations, it helps to have a little natural talent, but if you take the time to learn your craft, you will definitely become as good a writer as any person! However you take the time slow down and actually form the habit of writing you will have far greater chances of success. Your first project should not be the novel you've longed for. Begin with little stories, individual anecdotes, or descriptive events in your day. By establishing a writing routine for as little as 30 minutes a day, your writing will become automatic, your style establishes, and you create depth to your characters and storytelling. Writing is your dream and it is worthy of a time slot in your busy day. Make the commitment, and also establish yourself with deadlines so you continue pumping out the words.

Tip Number 2-- Read Critically. Be a really good reader to begin with. Be it consciously or unconsciously, we uncover what functions best through observation. Start reading as many high quality stories as you can get your hand on and also learn from those who write best. Reading with a critical eye significantly assists you to comprehend what works and what does not. You may likewise look deeper in to a story as well as find why equipments operate, and why they occasionally do not.

Tip Number 3-- Learn to Take Criticism. Yes, the feared assessments of our precious masterpieces! We personally know the blood, sweat and also tears that go into our work. Now if you want to be taken seriously as a writer you will realise that success do not come overnight, and that we need to put a massive amount of time and energy into our work. So once we open ourselves up for negative we will be able to learn from our mistakes and develop our work further. Its better for your peers to graciously mention your downfalls (so you can easily improve on them), than to have a publisher or agent decline your work because of them!

Tip Number 4-- Consider Your Audience. Too often, starting writers have the tendency to select an audience and then restrict themselves to confined guidelines in order to please them. In truth, writing needs to arise for what it is, it cannot be confined to these parameters. Let it grow, and the audience will come. There are particular guidelines we should maintain when structuring a story, however do not limit yourself by writing to please a particular audience. Books written by starting authors will likely fall under a specific niche market, and not be bestsellers that are sold toa vast audience. You will never be able to please everybody. So let the story unfold by itself, allowing it to become what it wants to become. Also, try not to write just to please your mom, partner, agent, or the person you are trying to trump from senior high school. Write for the complete stranger, and much more importantly write the story that needs to be told.

Tip number 5 - Readily available communication with other people is one of the biggest resources we have in this day and age, and we should be taking advantage of it!
