Why You Need To Become a Better Writer

By Buffy Greentree

Not many of us can say that they have experienced 'first times' in history. People have been using this term quite often as an exaggeration, that most of the time, it is untrue. However, this really is one of the first times in history that entire civilizations expect their citizens to read and write. As a writer, how exciting is that?

Since the invention of the printing press in the fifteenth century, the spread of information has evolved in many ways. In our modern world, there is an incredible increase in the reach of the written word and the ability to produce books. Now, with the advent of the Internet, the change in society has been even greater and it is still developing. More people, in more places, can write words that are read all over the globe.

If you are a writer who wants to become a part of this fast-paced revolution, you will need to approach writing with excitement and joy. Most importantly, you need to be able to write good quality content quickly. Writer's block cannot hold you back!

More good words, in more places, will equal success. Any amount of time that you put into learning how to increase your speed and ability to produce high quality content will reap great rewards. Success in the field of writing means producing more good words in more places. However, when you are starting out, good words may not seem to be essential yet. But it will become more so in the future.

You need to be fast. With so many new players coming to the field, the more awkward your communication is, the more jarring and isolating, the sooner you will be left behind. If it takes you five days to post about breaking news, 5,000 other websites have done it before you did and they are onto something new now. As more words are added to the stream, only the well-crafted - the short 'tweet' that implies a novel's worth of meaning, the pithy comment which draws readers to your site, the engaging blog post that keeps them coming back for more - only these will rise to the top.

It is so important to prepare if you wish to become a prolific writer. You need to spend time arranging and evaluating your physical and mental life. Though, no matter how much preparation you do, you will only ever make it if you follow this up by actually writing.

So, interested in being a writer? Never underestimate the rewards of preparing for a lifestyle of writing, where practicing everyday is the expected norm? This is the true secret to becoming a prolific and successful writer.

So, what are you doing to prepare yourself for the information age?
