The Tales Behind The Alaskan History

The name Alaska was derived from a scientific word meaning a basic land. In years 14, 000BC the Alaskan history was coming to existence. This was the periodic time that Asiatic group was crossing to the Western Alaska where the Alaskans lived. The Alaskans were divided in to groups; they were not as one tribe.

Mining of gold in this area created unity among the people living around back in 1890s. Alaska experienced a difference in the year 1912. The country had two islands that the Japanese came to rule over. The people of Alaska benefited a lot when gold was discovered.

The two islands were then occupied by the Japanese, the thought of recovering it to the U. S led to national pride. There was an increase in the growth of population in the Alaskan cities due to the development of military bases. This made Alaska popular and was given the title of statehood in the year 1959 on 3rd of January.

After several years, a tragedy occurred in Alaska in 1964. History was made in this area as a great number of people were killed in the earthquake. People were left homeless, villages destroyed and property damaged. The citizens of this area suffered a lot.

Alaskans discovered crude oil in the year 1968. A pipeline was constructed in 1977 which helped oil reach different parts of the country. This was not long before an accident occurred and caused the pipeline to burst out causing oil spillage of about 35million U. S gallons in 1989.

The first Alaskans that originated from the coast of Asia and passed through the Western Alaska are today living in Canada. The farming activities like subsistence activities and cultural practices were totally different. But they did what they could together to show how they care and love each other.

Alaska, following economic development grew to a large extent that the area became unsafe again. Individuals crossed paths with each other over gold mining, copper mining and many more. The area started having hostility . Different people run away to settle in other areas where they would live in peace. In Alaska they lived in fear of being attacked and forced into slavery. Families were no longer happy together as the clashes made them to separate. Alaskans were at the end displaced by an average of eighty percent. A disease that broke out affected them and for two generations, they lost their immunity.

The Russians knew they would benefit from the Alaskan land. They were forced to move to the Northern region after the resources were finished. The move was slow as they suffered shortage of ships and sailors. The various activities in the Alaskan area popularized it and people all over around the universe come over to have a recreational time of the place. Tourism has improved the countries economic status. When you think of Alaskan history, one had also to think of a strong man named Smith who had the power to commit crimes because of gold. He defeated the settlers of Alaska with his bad behavior and they had to shoot him dead so as to live in peace. It became advantageous to other towns to gain some advantageous benefits from Alaska expansion.
