Back To Basics Parenting And Why It's Important

By Barbara Rogers

Over the years, parents have become muddled with various approaches on child rearing. There are psychologists and doctors who will tell you one thing, while someone else may tell you another thing. Back to basics parenting may be something to think of when confronting by the large array of self help books on the shelf.

However, times have changed somewhat. Children are now used to watching television every day. They will lie in their room for hours, chatting on social media. In the past, kids were exposed to the outdoors, and there were advantages in this. They were able to socialize with others. There were health benefits. It increased their self esteem and confidence.

Things that go on in the school have caused chaos among a lot of families. Many parents were not aware of these sorts of scandals as they were growing up. There is the media that they have to deal with as well as technology which plays a key role in a child's life. It can be difficult to find the balance. A parent does not go to university to become a mom or a dad, and this can be a difficult job.

It is not easy for parents to be disciplined and set these types of rules. However, when one is more laid back in their approach, they will find that kids will begin to rebel. Having rules and regulations means that the child is able to live by a set of morals. They will learn right from wrong. This should be enforced from an early age in their life.

If parents don't give them this basic grounding early on in life, they may suffer in their adult lives. They need to feel as if they are loved by their parent. The also need to respect them. Sometimes, a parent will be too soft and see their child as their friend. They do this with all of the best intentions. However, it is not helping the child grow, and this is something to keep in mind.

Children also need to be developing from early on in life, by playing, being creative and listening to stories. Parents need to encourage this. By working with them, children will develop a deeper bond with their parents. It can be a nice idea to spend some time with the child reading a story to them before they go to sleep.

When you have a good relationship with your kids, it means you will be able to start them off with a good set of morals early on. They will be able to learn from you instead of learning from their friends. They may pick something up from school, but it is you that they come back to and this is the person that they will look up to.

Parents who are more positive and less stressed will project that over onto their children. A father who has had a hard day at work will come home feeling tense, and the child will pick up on this. One must learn what to do with the emotions so that the home is free from stress.
